Mum puts toddler ‘up for sale’ after she got up early and trashed the house

A WORN-out mum put her three-year-old ‘up for sale’ after discovering she had crept out of bed and caused chaos throughout the house in the night.

Exhausted parent, Zoe Wales, 22, had spent four hours spring cleaning the house the previous day only to find it had been trashed by her toddler who had woken up at the crack of dawn to wreak havoc.

Zoe didn’t know “whether to laugh or cry” when she saw the mess little Ivy Rose had made across three rooms after sneaking out of bed early last Thursday morning.

The Open University law student, who studies after Ivy Rose has gone to bed, spent hours on Wednesday giving the house a thorough spring clean and went to bed exhausted but happy.

But the sassy tot had other plans and greeted stunned Zoe with a bedroom strewn with toys, a bath full of freshly squeezed shower gel smeared round the tub and a living room full of toys, books and snacks embedded in the carpet.

Frazzled mum Zoe penned the hilarious ad offering her messy daughter for sale on social media inviting potential buyers to email her at

Zoe from Telford, Shropshire, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I went through and saw the mess. I’d spent so long the previous day giving the house a good proper spring clean.

“I woke up at 6.30am and it looked like a bomb had hit it, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“I was very close to crying but you have to laugh, it’s how I deal with things.

Zoe described her daughter as ‘a little diva’

“When I told her she had to clean it up I got told it was my job to do because I was the adult.

“I’m petrified of her hitting her teen years. If this is what I have to deal with now, who knows what it will be like in a few years’ time.

“I made her help me clean it all up, but in the end all she managed to do was take her blanket from the living room to her bedroom and fall fast asleep.

“It took me pretty much all day to get it back to the way it was because every time I tidied a room I came back to the one she was still in it was trashed all over again.”

Zoe said she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she saw the mess

Law student Zoe revealed that Ivy Rose is advanced for her speaking age, having been brought up around adults and encouraged to use ‘grown-up’ language and phrases.

Zoe said: “She’s a little diva. If you ever ask her to do something there are conditions attached to it which normally involves me helping her.

“If that doesn’t work she then pulls out of the big guns replying ‘if you loved me you would’.

Little Ivy Rose started to help clear up but ended up just falling asleep

“Although she can have a little attitude and tries it on, I always try make sure she does as she’s asked.

“Like most parents I don’t get much sleep – I only manage about four hours’ broken sleep each night.”

The ad reads: “Went to bed last night with a clean house and looking forward to being well rested.

“Fast forward to 10.30am today it looks like a bomb has gone off and my body is ready to go in shutdown mode.

“Due to this reason unfortunately I am having to sell my beloved Ivy Rose for the safety of the house lol.

“Ivy Rose is 3 years 10 months and house trained. She does have the occasional issue like waking you up at 4.30am for a ham sandwich.

Zoe explained that Ivy Rose is ‘her world’

“You also have to be up at 6.30am every day as that is when the day start in Ivy Rose’s eyes.

“You will have to deal with the serious 13-year-old attitude that comes out of her little mouth.

“If you ever ask her to do anything be prepared for the conditions he will give you for her to do as you asked.

“She will constantly need to be fed BUT only food of her choice if she doesn’t want what you made she will refuse to eat and moan ‘til you make something else.

“Anyway if more info wanted message me”

Mum-of-one Zoe said that despite her daughter’s sometimes sassy and messy ways she wouldn’t change her.

Zoe said: “Ivy Rose does have an answer for everything and sometimes I think ‘I can’t take this’.

“There aren’t many law students who will lose a fight with a three year old, but she’s amazing.

“She’s my everything, my world. As much as she can be a pain I wouldn’t change her for the world.”
